What is your degree and where did you graduate from?
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica and a Master’s degree in computer science from Universidad de Costa Rica.
What programming languages and development environments do you specialize in?
SQL Server, .NET and Visual Studio. I also work closely with databases, metrics, and algorithms.
What do you love most about working with Excel SoftSources?
The great working environment, the freedom to work directly with my clients, and the learning opportunities they give me with the inclusion of new technologies and platforms.
What is the most rewarding project you’ve worked on at Excel SoftSources and why?
Our client needed to improve a load process on a Windows service that was multithreaded. For this, in the past, multiple calls to the database were done, and so much data was transferred from the database and Windows service that it was a waste of time and resources.
I engineered a new process where all work, validations and data transformations were done in the database, sharing data through local temporal tables and improving the process’ speed and performance.
It was challenging for me and the team because we changed the process completely, and we were the first team to do something like that for such a delicate process.
What’s your favorite hobby outside of work?
I enjoy gardening and playing Magic: The Gathering!
Where do you like to visit in Costa Rica? What makes that place special?
Monteverde, because I grew up there. I lived in Monteverde for seven years when I was a little kid.
What actor or actress would you pick to play you in a movie?
Tom Cruise.
